Whether painting or writing or engaging in
any other endeavor, I aim for unity and an overall feeling
of harmony.
The skies in my landscapes may appear
uncontrolled with wildly flying clouds. Or maybe the fields
in the foreground look untamed. But those are only parts of
the whole. I bring all together into a painting, joining,
for instance, a detailed church with loosely rendered fields
and dissipating sky. The end result is a beautifully balanced
picture giving you, the viewer, an overwhelming sense of peace.
I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the
openness of the Midwest is an integral part of my artwork;
it’s the reason I so love skyscapes.
